A Healthy Attempt

I never expected to be writing a blog like this, but here we are.

I’m well aware that I’m not at my fittest and could do with a little bit of weight, but as I’m hard to weigh as I need scales I can sit / roll on.

As part of my new wheelchair purchase, they offered to weigh me, I did hesitate, but it made sense to find out. I’m not going to give any details, but I’m now conscious I need to rein it in a little bit.

My current plan is to change my eating habits slightly, cut out bread, chocolate, breakfast pastries etc. Nothing to drastic.

I’m looking for things I can replace breakfast with and if I really need to snack something healthier than chocolate, biscuits etc.

Let’s start with Nākd bars. AI says

Nākd raw fruit bars are snack bars made primarily from raw fruits, nuts, and sometimes flavours or spices. They do not contain added sugars, syrups, or artificial flavours, and are often gluten-free, dairy-free, and vegan

Nākd produce 15 flavoured bars, I’ve scored the 6 I’ve tried from least favourite to most favourite:-

  • Berry Delight I doubt mind the taste of this one. But I hate the tiny crunchy seeds in raspberries, this bar has the raspberry seeds, it’s a no from me

  • Peanut Delight I’m not usually a fan of peanut based things. I don’t like peanut butter and I’d never choose a snickers. But this is actually alright

  • Blueberry Muffin A light touch of blueberry. A decent choice.

  • Cocoa Delight its a chocolate delight. What more could you want? Middle of the pack

  • Salted Caramel this one is definitely my favourite. Pretty tasty

  • Cocoa Orange This one made a last minute climb to the top of the list. It’s not Terry’s Chocolate Orange. But it’s certainly orangey. My favourite Nākd bar so far!

Norway Cruises Restricted After 2025

Following on from my recent blog on Cruising and my love of Norway, particularly the Norwegian Fjords.

I hadn’t realised at the time, after 2025 Norway will be “Restricting” Cruise Ships from their UNESCO Fjords (Protected World Heritage sites). This includes the stunningly beautiful Aurlandsfjord, Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord.

I absolutely understand this, the Norwegian Fjords are beautiful places that need to be protected and respected.

From what I’ve read, some cruise lines are exploring the ability to switch to electric power whilst navigating the Fjords, which may allow a limited number of trips to continue. There are already smaller electric boats that offer this, but nothing cruise ship size. Even if they could be made zero emissions, it’s still a large amount of people arriving and exploring these destinations so it would only solve part of the problem.

It will be interesting to see if the restrictions come imto effect and if so, how the cruising industry adapts.

In my personal opinion trips to locations like this, Alaska is another example are likely to be much less frequent in the next decade or so.

I am privileged to have been able to experience some of the breathtaking Norwegian landscapes

Remember These?! - Mobile Phone Nostalgia

Writing this post is probably going to make me feel old. (Amended slightly to correct the timeline) I’m in the middle of a “Digital Clean Up” (it’s not even spring), going through all my old backups, re organising and getting rid of anything I don’t need. As I scrolled through old files, I found the following picture, 4 of my old mobile phones, or cellphones if you prefer. This brought back some instant memories of where it all started.
